Facebook and friends lists

Hi everyone. As a player, not a King moderator, I especially understand the frustration of things not working. 

With the recent debate about the ethics of security settings on Facebook, you might have heard they have tightened up a lot on their security and permissions in order to be more transparent about their dealings. 

At the moment, it seems very possible that they have changed something that affects the friends lists in games. Preventing them showing or not showing up properly. King have not changed anything and yet friends lists have gone all loopy. 

This IS a Facebook issue and the matter will be raised with them. However ANY game, King or not, if it requires you to send lives or gifts to other players will ask permission to view your friends list. This is not an invasion of privacy or they wouldn't ask. But if you refuse, as is your right, then the game cannot view you friends, meaning that they will not appear in your game. Its common sense. If the game cannot see your friends then they cannot show the friends list. 

Before you ask for help, its a good idea to go into your Facebook settings, choose apps, then the game you need and view permissions for them. You can approve or deny from there. Alternatively, removing the game from Facebook, clearing cache and cookies, rebooting your computer, then readding the game will also bring back up the permissions box. 

It seems to be an issue over several games at the moment and as soon as we have an update, we will update you.

In the meantime if you are having the issues, can you firstly try the troubleshooting

If you still have problems and post back, could you also include the following

1. Has troubleshooting been done, if yes then what?

2. Game app version (device)

3. Make and model of device

4. OS system installed (both pc and devices)

5. Available storage on device (if mobile device)

6. Screenshot of error, is there an error message?

7. If using a browser (pc) then which browser and version.

I am in the latest build of Windows 10 (1709.16299.402), also tried to uninstall in settings and reinstall the game app in Windows Store, also facing the above error screen.

Details:

When I click to "Log in with Facebook", it will directly say "Failed to connect to Facebook", I did a try to click on the left bottom corner, then the fourth icon, after loading the "Help", retry to click on "Log in with Facebook", it can let me to input the username and password of Facebook, but after I input the correct password, it will show "Failed to connect to Facebook" again.

Please advise.

It is not related to the issue you mentioned in the above link, I did not use Facebook app in Windows 10, I use Google and Edge for Facebook browsing, it is weird that it only happened in these 2 days, I did nothing change for my computer.

By the way, I tried to login the Facebook app in Windows 10 but the issue is still here.

I absolutely confirmed it is a server side issue between the Facebook and the Candy Crush Game App, as I have setup a brand new PC with Windows 10 to test, same error messages are shown after I input my Facebook username and password. It is NOT the user side problem at all due to different PCs are showing the same result.

Should I provide you the User ID to check what problem is going on? My iOS device are normal, and also I can play directly in the Google Chrome, the only issue I am facing is using the App downloaded from Windows Store. I played this game in Windows 10 Game App for a few months and nothing error until yesterday night. Please contact backend engineers to take this case as I have excluded all other factors that may affected by users.

Hi Rockychf thank you for all the information. 

What I am going to do, as it is clearly a windows 10 issue, is pass this to a moderator so wait until they contact you. It might be a few days though as its the weekend and a holiday in the country the team are in. 

The studio might already be aware, as surprisingly enough, they don't notify the customer teams of issues until they are enquired about and if they are not aware, they can take steps to investigate it. It always helps when others are having the same issues too. 

Can I ask you a really big favour. Can you copy everything you have written here into your original thread. The reason being, you have a large amount of vital information and already on a perfect thread for them to link to and update with. It makes it easier than having it over two threads. Then I can give the team the other thread and everything is condensed.

Thank you for this Tracy. I have a feeling not many people will read this. It is important information so everyone should read this and it should be "pinned" here or something, along with the other SuperStar info posts. It would help people with problems and help us too. Great info and great post! I read it and that makes sense as to why the Friend's lists are so wonky right now.

This is not helping. I can login via android mobile but not via Windows 10.

Totally correct, I also can login through iOS device, so it is not a user side issue.

Rocky. Firstly do not come at me like that. I am coming here simply to add on info and my comment was not directed at you. I understand the frustration but I am a volunteer who is here to help. I was simply agreeing with my colleague and I don't appreciated being called out like that. Now, that being said, I do have more info from the Mods themselves. It seems it is a FB problem. There will be more info hopefully soon. I am just as angry at FB and I think something should be done about it, but I am also just a player myself and I have no choice but to suffer along with you guys. Take heart though. King is aware of this and I am sure they are working hard to figure out how to fix it for the players. Here is that link from Mark--our Superman. :)

Hi Sharon!  Did youu see my link above? This all seems like an error on FB's side. They are changing something again, and naturally messing everything up in the process. Hopefully the Mods will have more info for us soon. :) I hope you all have a wonderful day!!

I am having the same issue on my windows 10 laptop. No issue on my mobile device though, but I am going to lose my daily bonus feature.

They are working on it, I know that's no consolation for the daily bonus but it is the same for most players on windows. Phone's seem to be some are ok, some are not for some reason.
